The Department of Art at YSU prepares students to become artists, designers, art educators or art historians. As part of a cultural milieu, students will witness a wide variety of styles, philosophies and histories. They are exposed to various techniques, processes and experiences in the development of a commitment to their work, their community and to the outside world. They are encouraged to expanded visual horizons as well as exposure to various histories will enable students to look both within themselves and outside in a broader cultural context.

Thanks to the generous support of YBI, the art students truly enjoyed the opportunity to work in downtown, engage with different kinds of audiences, and create work outside of classroom.

YBI is a non-profit organization that opened in 1995 as a mixed use incubator. In 2000, YBI decided to focus exclusively on information technology. YBI's mission is to cultivate, accelerate and promote the formation, growth, commercialization and innovation of technology-based businesses.
